Which do you prefer to cover with?

When starting your fruit wine ,some say cover with a towel. Is there a reason for not using your lid?

Lots of people cover with lids. I use a towel to make sure the must gets plenty of oxygen even though there is probably plenty inside primary buckets. I don't have inside pets or curious children either. I move to an airlocked carboy at around 1.020 - 1.010 sg.

I recomend people to just lay the cover loose on the fermentor to keep stuff from falling into it.

I lay the lid on loosely, them cover with a towel to keep in heat and keep out the flies.
