What to Seed Between Rows

What are you all seeding between rows?

Is there a particular flower/plant that helps reduce pests or is it advised to seed with standard grass seed.

That again depends on the region and what will grow there. I use red fescue, bluegrass and ladino clover as they are low growing and hardy here. The clover fixes a small amount of nitrogen which is good on my sandy ground as it leaches through the soil. That helps reduce the fertilizer requirements added to the vineyard and reduces pollution.

Elbon Rye grass is commonly used in central Texas.

Grapeman, does the clover attract any deer?

I saw the first 3 deer a few days ago I have seen in the vineyard in two years. Poachers keep their populations down to low to be a problem. There is a jerky house a couple miles away that specializes in venison, but I am sure they get their meat supply all from a reputable source. haha.

I use rye grass as well.
