My vine have been in the ground now for about 5 weeks. Here is what I have been doing so far.

Drip system set up: one gallon drip emitter 12" either side of vines.

Week 1 - 3: 2 gallons per vine per day, one gallon with drip tube directly to stem of vine.
Week 4: remove drip tube, 2 gallons per day either side of vine.
week 5: 2 gallons every other day per vine.

Any thoughts on my water regiment?

How about a pic to see how there growing. I use the tendrils as a guide to how much water I need to give. I don't think you can give to much water in the first year, especially in your environment.

Irrespective of the previous critical physiological stages; vine will show physical symptoms of water shortages
Important to recognize the symptoms to know when the vine requires irrigation

Here are some photos I took yesterday.

This vine turned out to be an extra; I was not expecting to have an extra vine so I ended up putting him at the end of the row. I was thinking of putting a wire at the 7ft level with cordon arms perpendicular to my rows. The only think is I would not be able to get through there. I don't really have any other place to put it.
