I hope I did not screw up my batch of wine. It was a WE Wash
Merlot and Cab Frac. I was drinking to much wine(Drunk other wine
I had) after racking for the third time. I was poring
more wine to get it to the 2 inch of the rubber bung. I put to
much wine in and the wine was touching the bung for the past
month. I went to check on it and noticed it was in contact with
the rubber bung. I tasted it and it tasted like poison or like
rubber. It was pretty bad!! I then took some wine out of
the carboy, about a bottle worth. I tasted it again from the
carboy and got nothing but pure grape taste. I then filled back
up with commercial wine and let it sit.



Did I screw up the wine?

Not at all, the top sip probaly had a little taste in it from touching but I dought it did anything else but that.
 
wade I don't know but I had one do that and it ruined the entire batch..
 
Benny did you splash rack and add more k-meta after. I choose to use synthetic bungs but cant see a rubber 1 ruining it to the point of where you would taste it for long. How long did you give it?
