my question revolves around the issue of storing lees or must to make skeeter pee. can it be stored in the refrigerator?
how long can it be stored before use?
Not sure on storing the lees, but I have had good luck re-hydrating a batch of new yeast and making a mini-starter by adding 1/2 the volume of the starter with must a couple of times to get the yeast acclimated to the must when making Skeeter Pee.
i put the lees in a gallon jug which i kept in the frig for 7 days before use. within 2 days after mixing all the skeeter pee ingredience the stuff was brewing like mad so i guess you can keep it for a few days before use
Found this post in a thread called Freezing slurry in the skeeter pee forum:
You can't easily freeze it. But you can wash it and put it in the fridge for several months.
See the guide at homebrewtalk. I've used this method several times for beer yeast as the good quality liquid yeasts are $10/pack. By washing the yeast I can get about 6 re-pitchable jars of yeast after making a beer and I can do this for at least 5 generations saving a lot of money.
The only difference with my method is I use starsan to sanitize instead of boiling the jars. It's less work for me. Some people have used the washed yeast for up to a year after putting it in the fridge.
