Skeeter Pee and broken hydrometer

Sooo I put my hydrometer in a batch of skeeter pee and the top of it exploded.

Theres some glass in there and just want to know everybodys take on what to do....should i filter it before transferring to a carboy or just dump it?

Filter it with a 1 micron and all will be well.

why did the top explode....
i would filter, and filter a few rackings.

Ive had it for two years now. All I did was put it in the batch of skeeter pee and when I went to pull it back out the top popped.
