Hi,
I am planning on starting my 3rd and 4th batches this weekend but have a question. I have 3 carboys (2 6gal and 1 5gal). I eventually will be using both 6 gallon carboys for the wine, and will only have one empty 5 gallon remaining. Is it safe to rack into my fermenting bucket and then back into the carboy once I clean it or is that a bad idea. I was just wondering if I had to go out and buy another carboy (which I really dont have the room for).
thanks
Rich

Hi Rich,

Welcome to winemakingtalk. Yes you can rack to your primary then back to your carboy, a lot of us did that when we first started up until we got enough equipment that we didn't need to do that anymore.

Yep. Just make sure you don't spash air back it the wine if you can prevent it.

as above. But. gives you an excuse to get a new one

Dan, I was thinking the same thing, but I thought, oh well, what's the use!!!! :slp :slp :slp :slp
