pillan grape press

I was given a pillan press which I believe is a no.25. It is complete except for the wooden blocks which go between the ratchet mechanism and the disk which pushes down the grapes.

I've tried using 2 X 2 and 2 X 4 pieces of different sizes with no luck.
If anyone has one of these and can give me the measurements I would be very grateful.

Also, can anyone recommend a safe lubricant to use on the threaded shaft and the ratchet?

I dont have that press so cant help on the sizes but you can buy food safe lubricants around. I actually use grape seed oil or olive oil on mine.
