While grocery shopping yesterday I checked the frozen concentrates. I was looking for Welches Concord grape concentrate and couldn't find any. However, they had Old Orchard 100% frozen grape concentrate. Usual price $1.79 per can. On sale for 5 fo5 $5.00! All Old Orchard products were on sale! I bought 20 cans. Now, can I make a chianti style wine from this? Does anyone have a recipe for this. There is one from Scotty on a post that calls for concord grape concentrate. Will Old Orchard work??

I don't know why it wouldn't work, being Old Orchard. I don't think the brand is going to make a difference as long as it's 100%. I'm assuming if you're looking for a Chianti that you'll need to oak and tannin this wine.

We use Welch's, Old Orchard and Store brand....Like PWP said...as long as it said 100% juice it should be similar.

Have fun with this batch...and...keep us up to date on your progress....

Thanks NW. It will probably be awhile before I start this as everything I own is full and aging or fermenting. At least I made a good buy. I think I saved about $16 by hording!
