Bought a couple of kits the other day, a chardonnay that has one yeast packet, and a port kit that has two.

I was wondering why some kits have more packets than others and is it possible to add too many packets?

Thanks

Doug.

Doug:

Port kits often contain two yeast packets. The higher specific gravity (ie amount of sugar) can cause problems for the yeast, so double the yeast is provided.

If you add different yeasts who knows what you'll get, as the yeasts may do battle (espesially the KIller strains). But adding multiple packets of the same yeast when it's not required will just waste a little of your money.
