First thing’s first, I need to give credit for the design of
this rack to Bob Perez who’s plan is the one I used while making this
rack. </span>It’s the same plan several people
on this board have used. </span>You can see the
plan HERE.

I’m new to the home wine making hobby but have quickly
learned that I will need a place to house many bottles of wine. </span>Just standing them up in the corner of the
basement isn’t a good method of storage, nor is it fun to show off.

I have been a woodworker for a couple years so I knew I
wanted to build something myself. </span>I will
be getting married in a year and moving to a new house so I wanted something
that could be easily moved. </span>Thirdly I
wanted to build something that didn’t cost a lot of money, hopefully used up
some extra wood stock I had laying around, and still be sturdy enough to hold
90+ bottles.

Since the above link takes you to the PDF that goes over the
process step by step, I am just going to show my pictures.

Here is what I started with, just spare left over scrap
wood. </span>No need to buy any new lumber!

Here are all the needed pieces cut to their final sizes and
layed out for assembly.

Here is a view of one of the shelves being assembled. </span>You can see the spacer I used to make quick
work of spacing the wine supports.

Finished shelves waiting for the end pieces.

The completed rack in my garage.

The one change to the original plan was the addition of some
feet. </span>I knew the rack was going to sit
on carpet and I was fearful that it would tip over. </span>You can see in the two final completed shots
the simple feet I added to make sure I didn’t have a mess broken wine bottles.

Nice job bru. What kind of woodworking do you do? I build custom staircases in Ct.

Looking good there brubakes. Now you can put wine production in high gear and put some full bottles on that baby. I like the feet you added. I use pocket screw to attach the ladders to the ends. They are quick and strong- using two on each end really stiffens it up. Good job.

Ah, the good ole Kreg Jig ay Appleman. I love that thing! All my woodwork is done with that.

Nice work! i have seen this plan before. my only complait it was the lenght for all bottles. i think he specify around 9 inches per bottle...

i made a quick compare and most bottles are about 13 inches long so i would build the same rack but with a 13 inches lenght (to avoid hitting bottles if i move near the rack)

Nice work! i love your Blue bottles!
