August 1 is the American Homebrewers Association annual Mead Day. Here is the link with all the infohttp://www.beertown.org/events/meadday/. What does this all mean? Well for those of you who have never made a mead this is an opportunity to try something a little different. Meads are considered the oldest fermented beverage, depending of course on which camp you are in, wine, beer or mead!

This will be the third year we have participated in this event and it has become a fun family adventure. So, pick out a recipe, there are lots here that folks have tried, and join the fun and list your recipe (or post a link).

I'll be making this recipe http://www.brewboard.com/index.php?showtopic=61018, it is Cruz's ABC Mead a very high alcohol cyser. The only thing different I plan to do with this is feed the honey into the mead gradually instead of all at once. I know the yeast can handle it but I am shooting for the full 22%. I also plan on soaking some oak in bourbon and adding that once I stabilize the cyser.
