I was starting a batch of white wine from my own grapes. Accidentally, I added Sodium benzoate to the must rather than Sodium metabisulfate to sterilize the must before adding yeast.
Did I ruin any chance of getting this to ferment?
 
Possibly yes!!! I would make a huge starter yeast and slowly add your must to it a little at a time so as it could maybe get acclimated to it but beware you might end up with a stuck fermentation as these additives dont prevent fermentation but rather inhibit new growth. Hurray, another Ct'er on our forum. Sorry we have to meet this way though!!!
