Would it be responsible of me to say that "red wine is made by fermenting the grape must" while "white wine is obtained b fermenting the grape juice" implying that must is the viscous soupy mass of crushed grapes including skin, pips, juice and pulp while juice is from freely runs off the must or is results from pressing this mass of crushed grapes.?

or are the terms totally interchangeable an used as synonyms?

A useful definition from WineMaker Magazine:

Must:
A red-wine making term that refers to the soupy mass of squished skins, seeds, and pulp that are fermented together. “Must” can also be applied to fruit winemaking; it refers to the gloppy pulp/skin mixture to which the yeast are added, essentially the winemaker’s raw material. In contrast if the pulp and other solids are pressed off before fermentation, the raw material is simply “juice.”
