Does a recipe with less sugar ferment more vigorously than the same recipe with more sugar?

There are several factors that impact how vigorously wine ferments, the sugar concentration being one. Still (assuming all other factors are equal), there is a limit as to how much activity you can get from a set amount of yeast. Having said that, over time more sugar will allow the yeast more food, more opportunity to multiply, and greater activity.
