Do I want to strain the wine with a mesh bag after primary ferm before going into the carboy?

Or should the straining be done after second ferm finishes.

:cw

I strain mine before I put my stuff in secondary but thats me others may do differently

You don't really have to...I know people that tie a cheese cloth at the end of their siffon tube...I just put the orange "cap" and try to be careful not to pull in any sediment...

well reason I say that is I never use a bag in my primary

What are you making that you want to strain?
You want to rack it off the "Lees" or sediment that falls in the fermentor/carboy

Yep, I'm trying to avoid the lees when I move it to the carboy for secondary ferm. (Red wine juice, specifically zinfandel from a California winery, its not a kit but it did have sulfates and yeast in it already.
