I started an Advintage Cab/Syrah today. Added 500g of rasins and about 12oz extra water (to compensate for the grapes). Took several readings and kept getting an SG reading of 1.095 @74degF. Waited 6 hrs, stirred the must gently to make sure I churned things up to get rid of any stratfication and...yep 1.095 at 74deg.

Anyone tried Advinage? This is above their normal range.

I would think that is about a perfect beginning range for a Cab/Syrah. If it was made from California grapes , it would probably be even higher.

It is a Calif blend of Cab and Syrah so I maybe things are OK, but the instructions top out the SG at 1.09

I don't think that it is terribly high to worry about however if you are concerned just contact your supplier or the company it came from. Ask if it is ok and if not ask that they replace it.
