CR as topper

Anybody considered using gallon jugs of carlo-rossi wine matched as closely as possible to the wine being made as a topper? I am not trying to advertise for CR, but wonder how well this would work, as then you have the empty gallon jug for your use afterwards…
 
I've done it several times, as you mentioned trying to match the batch as closely as possible. It's not my first choice, but workable.

I would use Oak Leaf ... no jug though ...

Better yet, make a little xtra. When you xfer to a carboy, put the xtra in another bottle - with airlock. Then use the xtra to top up later.
