Any reason i cant use champange bottle for putting my wine in ? I have 24 my boss gave to me from 1983 ???

As long as you can get a tight fitting cork into the bottle, it should be fine. Champagne bottle necks taper to a greater diameter faster than wine bottles do. I would use a #9 cork for sure.
 
If you do any beer brewing and have a decent capper you can get a 29 mm Bell and 29 mm caps and actually cap the wine bottles without corking them. Obviously a cork will be a better long term storage option, but I rarely keep anything around long enough to age.
