I've got about 5.5 gallons of mead in a 6.5 gallon glass carboy right now. It's ready to be racked, but the only other glass carboy I have right now is 6.5gal also.

I have a 5 gallon PET "better bottle" that I haven't used in several years.

Anyone see an issue with using the PET carboy for fining and bulk age?

My gut says no.. but maybe that is unfounded..

As long as there are no scratches in the plastic, I don't see an issue.

I don't use glass carboys because they're too heavy for me, so my red wines spend 6 months bulk aging in Better Bottles.

No issues at all, I use em all the time! I have about 6 of them and have used them to bulk age for a year with no ill effects. And now I can used the all in one with them!
