    "Body" Development

Does the "body" of wine develop with aging? Our Zinfandel has a great "nose" to it, but upon tasting there isn't much body.

    Bottling Tip

I don't know if this has been discussed or not, but here is a tip for bottling. If you aare like me, sometimes getting a siphon going and keeping it going can be a bit of a challenge. When bottling this time, i transferred my wine from the 6 gallon carboy back to my fermentor. Then placed...

    Leaves are Turning

Thislast springwhile wine tasting in Paso Robles, my wife bought a couple of grape vine cuttings. We planted each one in a half barrel and place them on our deck. Originally it was going to be her "thing" since she is good with plants and i am as we will say a "plants nightmare"....lol. Anyway...

A topic that is almost never discussed

I did a combination of using a drill witht he whip and the Vino-Vac. I would whip up the wine pretty good, then place the orange cap back on and then use the Vino-Vac. worked pretty good, once i figured it out. Keep in mind to have a bottle of sanitizer to spray everything each...

    WineXpert S.G. too low?

I would strongly suggest writing notes down. I use a wine making log book.

    Fermentation is Done

Thanks for the tip Waldo! I did what you said and there was a bit of gas. I am now using a vacuum technique and pulling a fair amount of small bubbles out each time. I will continue this until the bubbles have disapated and then continue with the Fining process.

    Fermentation is Done

The fermentation in our Zin is complete. Went to Degass and not very much foam. Is this normal? The instruction said that here would be a lot of foam. I used the drill and whip for degassing. Any ideas??

    Secondary Fermentation

My big concern is that during the Primary Fermentation, it went crazy for about 4 days and then quieted. Still bubbled, but not very vigorously. Now it is slow. Will it pick up again? The SG was 1.00 when we racked.

    Secondary Fermentation

We racked our wine from the Primary Fermentation container on Saturday, to the Secondary (Carboy). All went well. My question is how often should you see bubbles in the airlock? I filled the airlock about half way with Vodka. I have seen a few bubbles, but don't really know how often it...

    Wine from real grapes?

Like A-Man stated, those are mostly eating grapes. I would encourage him to make jelly or other things then wine. It would be a great expirience to make from the vine, but from what i have read, the process is more of a science. You need to be able to make several adjustments for killing off the...

    Mosti Mondiale Fermentation Question

We started our first wine last Sunday morning, around 10:00am. Followed the instructions that came with the juice (MM Kit) and the instructions that George provided. We placed the Primary in a room that has had pretty stable temperature (high of 76.7 and low of 69.9). Within the first 8...

    Wine Temperature Regulator

Got it. I guess it helps to actually read slower and comprehend what is being said. I will go get the heat pad, wood and plexiglass.
