    Two Things America Got Right!

Point of order: The new 2015 Chrysler 200 is our subtle (but complete) take-over of the mid-size sedan segment. This thing is super amazing with capabilities beyond anything any other brand has! Sleek, stylish redefinition of complete quality.

    Trans-Plant

I am just curious to see if times have changed since, say, Thomas Jefferson's day - when he tried to transplant vines from fields in Kent, England (granted, I realize we are talking about two totally different world regions) - but his wine making suffered as a result of these plants not...

    Trans-Plant

I would worry about a stable and established tap-root. Like if you cut off a mature plant's tap will it grow another one in the new location to find water? Hmmmm...... :-/

    Trans-Plant

This might be a stupid question, and I pray none take offense, but I am curious. As long as the soil and conditions are right: is it conceivably possible to transplant fully-grown, mature, adult vines to a new location? Thanks!

    Soil Testing!?

Excellent! Virginia Tech has an excellent extension office and I'll find out if they can help! Thanks to both of you!!!!!!!!

    Soil Testing!?

I'm finally at a stage where I can begin the ground work (no pun intended) of planting my vineyard. NOW! I need a little help, if its out there, getting my soil tested. I have been asking around and doing research online and really found nothing of help. Any suggestions would be greatly...

    Breaking Ground!!

D-dub! Wow, that was quite the helpful post. I had no idea (perhaps I haven't gotten this far in my reading yet) that it would take such intensive research into JUST THE GROUND. I understood it would take some semblance of investigation. However, the way you've outlined it seems to be...

    Breaking Ground!!

Blume, As ever, so full of insight and very helpful! I fear the specter of planting many varietals, however the logic does make sense, as far as determining what varietal(s) will best suit me. Thank you, also, for your wishes of luck and ideas. They are greatly appreciated!

    Breaking Ground!!

Blume, I am sorry for the confusion. What I meant was that the vines I plant (in my back yard) to start, will remain - however I will not be running a winery out of my back yard; only starting there. Also forgive me my lack of vocabulary as far as equipment goes - but my first foray...
