The wine is from a Minnesota grape similar to concord. The crystals formed after it was racked the first time. I just bottled it, started it in early September.

Other than being unpleasantly crunchy, crystals are not a problem. Next time let the wine bulk age another couple of months so the crystals are more likely to drop in the carboy.

Storing in bulk under 40 degrees will help facilitate the fallout.

Crystals are normal In northern grape. Crystals are not unusual with European wines that claim to be “natural”. In the scheme of things they settle easily so one can decant.

Bulk age and they will be on the bottom of you carboy instead of your bottle. Cold aging will drop the tartrate crystals better known as wine diamonds.
