We have half of our 2019 Petite Syrah in a 60 gallon barrel and the other half in 5 gallon car boys. We keep seeing a white film develop on the top of the wine in the glass car boys. Does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it?
Thanks

Possibly mycoderma. Make sure it's topped up and that your pH and sulfites are at good levels.

rack immediately do a double dose of k-meta. "flowers of wine " needs air to grow. ph levels may be off requiring a larger dose of k-meta. 1/4 tsp per 5 gallons with a nominal ph of 3.1-3.4 should be okay. make sure you k-meta is not to old.

I believe the normal dosage is one table per gallon check label instruction double whatever it says. must immediately rack first. rack from bottom leave the last of the top about one inch .crush tablets mix with water or wine until dissolved and then add to main batch.
