I've been using these for smoking meat. Has anyone used these to oak their wine? If not, opinions on trying this?

If these are chipped up remains of a used whiskey barrel, then I would not use them for wine.

First off, having been used for whiskey, the natural oak flavor would certainly be gone. The only flavor left to impart to wine would be a taste of stale whiskey. This might go well if you are making sherry or even, perhaps, port but would not do well with your standard still wine.

Another concern is that this would be used wood. I have the same personal rule with wine oak and tongue depressors, never try to recycle.
