Sterilizing

I was wondering about sterilizing like the thermometer and the hydrometer can I just use some alcohol instead of having to mix something up all the time. If I only want to check the temp just to put some on a paper towel or napkin.????

Get yourself a bottle and make it up full with 3 tablespoons per gallon of k-meta. If you have a 2 liter soda bottle with cap(or similar), you can use that to keep the extra ke-meta solution in for next time. Just use what you need and keep the rest. It will stay good for a couple months.

ok appleman, where would I find this k-meta (potassium metabisulfite) at??? I don't have a wine/beer supply store near me and I need it now. Any ideas??
