Does anyone know what kit may have a simular taste. This region produces a unique purple/red wine with a deep, ripe black cherry forward and an earthy...olde world/herby finish. Any ideas? Thanks!

Red wines from Sardinia are primarily Grenache and Carignan based. I think the closest you will find would be the Australian Bush Vine Grenache, which has that spicy and earthy finish. It takes a year or two for this wine to come into it's own though. I made it when it first came out in Restricted Quantities. I have about 20 bottles left, as I just started to get into it. It will be 3 years old this April. It's very nice now, and about the only Grenache based kit made in a red. RJS used to have GSM (Grenache/Syrah/Mouvedre), but that doesn't match the style you are looking for.

The Australian Bush Vine Grenache is a little more new world, but it about the closest you will find.
