I just popped and poured this tonight. It was made in 2018 with Lalvin Barolo BRL97 yeast, yeast nutrient, and with extra oaking.
The nose is nondescript. The color is fairly deep. It is pleasantly dry, with mildly gripping tannins. The mouthfeel is okay. Alcohol is substantial, but not excessive. There is little fruit on the palate: perhaps a very slight off taste. Tannins are medium grippy. Finish is short. Not the worst bottle I've made, but not the best.
Update: On day two, after the bottle opened up, the slight off taste disappeared, and the fruit and ever-so-soft fruit came forward. There is now a degree of refinement and balance. Who knew? Let this wine breathe!
