I just watched a show on the history channel where they talk about processing fruit. They wash the fruit, then spray a fine mist of oil on the fruit to preserve it. They did this with apples, peaches, and other fruit. I was surprised. And after reading waldo's post, I thought it would be a good chance to remind him.

I saw that too...Gee...you never know what you are eating do you???
Guess if we use store bought fruit to make wine we are going to have to wash it real good...another chore to remember.

Thanks rhosted for that info...I did not know that. I make it a practice to rinse off all my fresh fruits but sounds like they may need a little more attention than we are probably giving

I use a spray I bought in the produce aisle to help remove some of that stuff. It has an orange smell to it. And always wash those bananas when you get them home! Who knows what's been crawling on them!
