Who did you order from and how was the service. I ordered on online on November 12th and still haven't received it. It has been nothing but a headache since I called to inquire about a shipping confirmation.
I'm just looking for someone reliable at this point as my CC company should handle the dispute by the 4th.

I bought mine from Mehu-Liisa a couple of years ago. Just checked the web site and the cost has doubled! Here is the web site: http://www-podunk.com/10litmehstea.html I would look at Back to Basics and ebay. Just make sure you get stainless steel.

I was looking into the steamers for a while as well. I found them to be way more money then I was looking, or willing,to spend. Is the anti-aluminum sentiment purely because of the longer lifespan? I was thinking if thats so, maybe I would get a cheapy aluminum just to make sure I will use it. Then maybe a few years from now Ill get a good one.

Eland, I also got mine from ebay, I believe you would want to go stainless, not only is the quality of the steamer better, but the aluminum over time can cause oxidation in your must, leaving a bad taste. This could come into play even more as you find more uses than just wine making for it...yes...there is more than just wine making!

The problem is I DID order one already. In fact, from the same company as the link NW provided. They did not ship as theyindicated. The have an automated message about problems with shipping. I ordered this on November 12th and that same message has been there since I tried calling on the 14th. I don't want this to be a rant about this company. I was just looking to see if someone ordered one recently as I will probably make another order from somewhere else as soon as things are squared away with the credit card dispute.

Sorry to hear you had a problem with that company....harvestessentials.com

My neighbor bought her's through the canning pantry, but they might be sold out of both aluminum and stainless...You could call them....800-285-9044 She was really happy with thie service....came before they were suppose to ship it as they were back ordered last fall.

Eland,

This is where I got mine from this past September.

http://www.cookware.com/Back-to-Basics-N12-BTB1046.html

$120 and some change shipped. I got it in 5 days. Have used it once since I got it and I am about to employ it again on Wednesday. I have 18#'s of oceanspray cranberries. I may buy another 6 pounds to make some more depending on how much juice I can extract. I plan on using it much in the new year.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with that company, but I had good luck with mine. I wish you better luck with whomever you choose.

Thanks Northern and Gaudet,

I am planning to buy a steamer before next year's fruit harvest. It looks like a great way to make fruit wines.

DFW,

You will love it. I was extremely surprised how easy it was to use. Here is another thread I started back around August. http://www.finevinewines.com/wiz/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6126&KW=steam+juicer

There are a bunch of links in there to other sites that have good prices as well as further discussion on the SS vs. Aluminum

FYI for folks looking at steam juicers this Christmas, the Mehu-Liisa (yes, more expensive than the Back to Basics aluminum version...) this is the stainless steel 10 liter steamer --

Email notice today from the online store I got my steamer from said:

I can recommend this seller as being strong on customer service, fast shipping, and a real person behind the website. They also carry "spare parts".
