Picked up a Contemporary asperator pump model # 6260, and was wondering if mixing hose sizes between pump, carboys and filter would cause a problem? The filter takes a three quarter fitting and the smallest reduction I found in a plastic fitting would take 1/2 inch tubing. The asperator looks like 1/4 inch tubing. Was planning on using orange carboy tops. So from carboy to filter to carboy would be 1/2 inch tubing, from recieving carboy to overflow to pump would be 1/4 inch tubing.

Does this sound ok?

Thanks for any help!

That will work fine mixing the hose sizes. Vacuum doesn't mind size changes anymore than a liquid does. Just keep in mind that wherever the liquid travels, the smaller size limits the amount of liquid flow. So actually you have the wine traveling in a half inch hose all the way and it's just the air in the smaller size. To sum it up- it will work fine.
