I have a Santa Rosa plum tree that's now towards the end of it' second year in the ground. It hasn't produced any fruit yet (mid May frost). Should I go ahead and prune it now? If so any recommendations or references?

Generally fruit trees should be pruned after they go dormant for the year and lose their leaves. You should not get fruit with that young tree even if the frost had not occurred. Give it a couple more years to get some size before bearing.
