Primary problems

I just purchased a wine making kit and upon opening the box discovered that the primary is cracked. I bought the kit at a discount, the local store is no longer selling supplies so it was on sale and they do not have any more supplies. Are their any substitutes that can be purchased locally. Thanks for your help. I'm sure more questions will follow.

For primary, any food grade plastic container would work. here are examples

I don't know what kind of store you bought it at, but if it is a ferment-on-premise store, they most definitely have piles of 5 gallon pails like the one shown in the picture above lying around in the back. Try to get them to give you one since the one you bought from them is broken, and if they won't give one to you, see if you can buy a used one from them for cheap.
