What time of year is best for planting cabernets and merlots. And what type of trellis is best. And do you need to winterize them? Thanks for any advice that anyone can give. I'm in North Alabama I'm having really good luck with muscadines and I'm going to see what happens with a few cabernets and merlots. _________________There's many a slip twixt the cup and the lip.

The springtime is usually always the best so they have a chance to get a good start and a chance to develop some roots before the first Winter.

Does anyone know what type of trellis and how I should train my vines to get the most air flow. We have alot more humidity in North Alabama than they do in Napa Valley. And I've heard that leaf mold can be a slight problem. And thanks for the info on planting season Mike. ______________Theres many a slip twixt the cup and the lip.
