We're in the process of making our first batch of wine. We bought a wine making equipment set that came with a 6.5 gal big mouth bubbler and a 6 gal glass carboy. After trying to move the glass carboy filled with wine it became apparent that it's risky for me to do given my strength. My question is: Would there be any effect on the wine if I were to buy two 3 gals carboys and use those instead of the big 6 gal?

That was what I did with my first batch. It will be fine, plus you can try different things ( like yeast, oak, etc ) and compare.

That's an added benefit I hadn't considered. Thanks so much!

For our wine making needs and consumption, 3 gallon carboys are much more appropriate - AND as you will see 3 gallon carboys are much easier to move about.
