Newbie wants to make port.

Ok, I currently have my first batch of wine in the bucket fermenting. So I have no real experience, but I want to make a port from berries.

Is it possible to make a berry wine and then just stop the fermentation with alcohol at the appropriate time? Is it really that simple?

It is excatly that simple! Thats the only really way to stop a fermentation in progress for people like us without expensive sterilization filters. I will include a link for you below called "Pearsons Square" which is a calculator for fortifying a batch of wine.
