I'm new (have only used one kit, so far), but am especially interested in the new hard cider/lemonade cooler kits.

Has anyone used them yet?

Hey bj,

Welcome to the forum.

I will assume that you speak of the new vinoka kits that George is now selling?

I have made a hard raspberry apple cider and a buddy made the
hard lemonade. So, everything below is my opinion..others will
most likely vary.

Both turned out well. The hard lemonade is a bit
different than Mike's Hard Lemonade. If you are expecting Mike's
you'll be disappointed. But you are not a die hard Mike's
person...then you'll be good to go.

The Raspberry apple cider is sweet and subtle. It's a summer drink, or a sipper. I'd do it again.

The kits seem of good quality. You ferment to dryness then
add the flavor bottle mixed with sugar. These kits also request
that you filter to remove the yeast..or at least thats what I remember.

I heard rumor that the black cherry is also very good.

Hope this helps...

Cheers,

Doug

I am talking about the Vinoka kits offered in the FRUIT WINE section by FINE VINE WINES.

Thanks for the info Doug, I might try one. I have a wine-making kit I've used for a good Mezza Luna. Is that sufficient?

I got into wine making to use some of the wild muscadine dropping all over the property. Now I've planted an orchard to make more.

I'm guessing your wine making kit is like Georges basic kits? Primary fermentor, secondary (carboy), etc.

It does not require any other equipment than a basic wine kit except the instructions will call out for a filter...

let us know how it works out for ya

Doug did you carbonate the cider and hard lemonade according to the directions?

Don't recall the instructions on that part. I left the raspberry cider still and put in those 1 ltr cobalt blue bottles with the flip top. My buddy put his hard lemonade into a corny keg and force carbonated it.
