I currently have a "Rhone" blend in carboy, Mourvèdre, Petite Sirah, and Syrah from California grapes. The blend is very heavy and will be used for blending into Grenache in November.
If you're making a straight Mourvèdre, you're going to get a heavy-duty wine, especially if you ferment to completion. You could press early to make a lighter wine.
