I want to make some beer

I found a 1 gallon recipe in the130 new wine making recipe book.


I dont drink beer except for a glass on st pattys day with a corned beef sandwich.
I dont know good beer from poor beer but i want to have some to give to the mechanics at the motorcycle shops from time to time.


this is in imperial measure


500g malt extract
225g sugar
30g hops
4.5 liters of water
yeast???????




boil ingredients in 2 liters in a pressure cooker for 30 minutes


strain and add 2 liters of cold water


set aside closely covered and and skim the cap every 24 hours


when fermentation has aparently ceased usually about a week


bottle in 1 litre bottles addind 1 teaspoon of sugar to each bottle.




cap tightly. and the beer should be ready to drink in a fortnight


I will greatly appreciate any advice or comments.




All wise ass comments will also be usefull in this project.

I guess you could call it beer since it does have the correct ingredients but I would opt to make a 5 or 6 gal batch from a kit. A quick and easy option is to get a Winexpert Baron Beer Kit and all you have to do is rehydrate like a wine kit, ferment (primary to secondary), and prime then bottle. No boiling is necessary and the quality is good and I would suggest the Mexican Cerveza as a great hot weather beer (with a lime added of course).

I didnt like the boiling thing.
I have been lookin at no boil kits but didnt really want 5 gallons.


I guess a capper and other stuff are needed.


I just did some research and it will cost me 100 dollars to make and bottle 5 gallons of beer..

Coffee liquor for the folks at the motorcycle shops this year.
