Hi,

I have 5.5 lbs of blackberries and want to make 6 bottles of wine. How much water do I need to add please? I did a previous batch, using 3lbs of blackberrys adding 1 gallon (imperial) of water, so I figure I need to add less water this time, but not sure how much less. I'm not working from a recipe this time.

add blackberries to muslim bag and crush..add 1/2 gallon water,
add pectin enzyme and let sit for a day.
add sugar to get the sg you want to start with.
add 1/2 gallon water and the remainder of your chemicals.

add yeast and ferment
stir once a day
remove bag after 4 days.
ferment to .990
after you remove bag and rack to secondary you will have about 7 bottles.
after you rack again, etc you will have about 6.

Hi James,

If I wanted to do a 5 gallon batch of this recipe, do I just simply 5 times all quantities ( apart from the yeast)? Finally, does any of the water need to :) be boiled at any stage? Many thanks and all the best for 2014!

5 times the fruit, add chemicals per instructions, add sugar according to hydromter to get to the sg you would like to start at.
dont boil the fruit are the water.
if using montrachet yeast, break your nutrients in 3rds....
