Hi all. Has anyone seen anything like this before? It's a Merlot from grapes that were fermented in a primary to .996. Then it was pressed and then the next day racked into this demi. My Syrah in the other bottle has the normal pinkish colour I would expect. I'm wondering what I should do about it? It's only been in the demi for 11 days so far. Thanks in advance...Grey Sediment.jpg

I normally rake three days after pressing then again in three weeks. I would rack ASAP to keep from getting gad odors. add k-meta as soon as racked 1/4 tsp per 5 gallons.

So we racked it and the lees was actually bright pink. The bottle is green. When you mix those two colours together, you get gray. Who knew. Normally these demis are in a basket and no one notices the colour at the bottom. I don't have any baskets and being a newbie... I'm paranoid about everything!
