Finally back after a long hiatus.

Curious to see if anyone made the Gamay Nouveau. Pulled a couple of bottles out of the cellar finally and I am far from impressed. The oak seems to be so overpowering it is almost difficult to drink.

Would love to hear your impression on the kit if you did craft it.

I would like to hear from others who have made this also. I am thinking about trying this one. Gamay Nouveau (Beaujolais Nouveau) usually isn't oaked and is light and consumed early.

How much oak did you use?

When did you make this?

According to my records I crafted the wine around Jan.-Feb. 2012.

As for the oak, I seem to recall 2-3 packs.

I think this is meant to be an early drinking wine kit (like Beaujolais Nouveau wines). It should be a very fruity wine. It could be that it's already past its prime. I remember that kit being advertised has truly ready to drink by bottling time. The oak may be meant to hide some of the greener flavors so it can be drank as soon as possible.
