I've read that you can clean fermenters (plastic) with Tri-odium Phosphate. That seems a bit harsh, has anyone use TSP? Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Kevin

I use Oxi-Clean on fermenters, both beer brewing and wine making. After rinsing well, I fill them with water, add Oxi-Clean and soak over night, scrub and rinse well the next morning. Be careful with some off brands of oxygen cleaners as many have various detergents in them with low levels of oxygen cleaners added. I don't like "One Step" cleaner as I have had problems with it leaving a hard to scrub off/out crusty residue if left to soak for more than a day. I agree, TSP seems extreme but lets see what other say...

Would you wash your dishes with TSP? I make it a point to never use any cleanser that I would not eat off of afterwards, but that's just me.

tsp can be mixed in different strenghs...I use it..along with one step.
all most every single cleaner bought in the store contains tsp.
you can mix it strong enough to remove paint are weak enough to clean your dishes.
leaves no odor, no residue,
mix it 1 Tbs per gallon water, clean carboy, fill with water let sit an hour are so and dump out, then rinse with one step.
