I make a lot of petal and herb wines, which is a big pain to get into a straining bag after I've frozen it. What I do is just pick the petals directly into the straining bag whenever I harvest. I put the slowly growing straining bag inside a plastic one, and freeze it all.
When you have harvested enough of what you want, you don't have to try to get some frozen conglomerate into a straining bag. You have all your petals/herbs in one place, and nothing sticking to a freezer bag. Just plop it into the primary pour the hot water over it, and you're good to go.
Since I use nylon stockings for my straining bags, all I have to do is take the "bag" out of the must, let it drip dry through a collander, and throw it away. No mess, no cleanup.
Hope this helps someone!
