My Chardonnay from a juice pail (started November 2019) has a smell and an after taste I can’t quite figure out. It’s definitely dry but the smell is a light smoky fruit smell (as my wife describes it) and the after taste is light with a little bitterness and a small tongue tingle but it also has this finishing taste that is a little off.
It’s not sulfur or rotten egg smelling, it did not turn to vinegar.
I was hoping to bottle this weekend for my 40th party next week but I am not sure I want to give this out.
Any ideas on what it could be based on the description and not tasting it?
I wish I had someone close buy in my area I could bring this to to try:)

You could try some PVPP. This will remove bitterness and any oxidative notes and browning. It works in as little as 5 minutes (they claim) and I've used it with under 1 hour of wine contact time prior to filtering. The issue will be sufficient time for settling unless you have the means to filter it out.
