The other day I stopped and picked up a package of yeast at the LHB shop and was browsing the shelves and was wondering how to read the codes on the kit boxes. So when i got home I sent WE an email and here is the response. Just fyi for those who didnt know.

Look at the top of any Winexpert kit and you will see the numbers that tell you the date of manufacture, for example: 0019507 0267


They break down like this: 00/195/07 0267


00 The first two digits are for internal use: ignore.


195 The next three digits indicate the day it was produced, in this case the 195th day of the year, which is July 14.


07 The next two digits are the last two digits of the year, in this case 2007.


0267 The last four digits show which particular kit of that batch this kit is: in this case, the 267th kit out of about 600.


We recommend that you make up your kits within one year of manufacture, or at the very outside, 24 months, assuming optimum (cool dry) storage conditions.
