Not sure if this is the proper place for this but I found this article interesting, as others my, but it is kind of a long read.

A lengthy article but worth the read. Very interesting.

I'd like to learn more about those "wine bricks" that were sold for a period of time. Could it be something that gets resurrected by the kit wine manufactures?

I think it may have been written in part by JohnT:

In 1852 one E. W. Bull produced the Concord, which was the most prolific and hardiest of all American grapes. Connoisseurs complain that wine made from Concords is unfit to drink.
