I've started my Island Mist Kit with the extra 4 lbs of sugar. I’m using the airlock in the lid on the bucket per the instructions. Now the airlock bubbles constantly, like it’s about to explode. Is it because I have added the extra sugar? What should I be doing? Not wanting a small volcano in my basement during the night. Temperature is around 75 degrees.

I would loosen the lid until sg was down to 1.010

I don't add the airlock until it reaches about 1.010 to 1.020 and just put a washcloth over the hole or something similar made of cloth.

Thanks for the advice about my aggressive airlock. I have loosened the lid and feel better about not making a mess in my basement. So why does the kit instruction say to use a lid and airlock? Would it had been OK if I had not added the extra sugar?

it probably would have been the same adding sugar are not.
i have only done one kit...i tossed the instructions and used the chemicals, and fermented like i normally do. it came out, very nice.
still aging, but it will be good.
i think the kit makers should rethink there primary fermentation steps..
