I have just bottled a 6gal batch of Merlot and would like to store it in a fridge. The temp is 45F. The wine can stay in the fridge as long as it needs to, so what do you pros think about this?

From what I understand it will not hurt anything it just will not age (mature) as fast. Which might be a good or bad thing.

The instructions say store below 60F but don't give a lower limit.

Don't get too hung up a set temperature. Be more aware of large temperature swings. Yes 60° is a great temperature to store wine at but if it near a heater, ac or duct work, that would not be good. Same with direct sunlight. I think your temperature at 45° would be ok but if you can adjust it, I would turn it up some. I don't store any of my wine chilled. Incidentally, 45° is way better than 85°.
