    WineXpert HELP!!! Pinot Grigio

    I started this kit today... I am glad to hear good reviews of it. It is my second batch. (The first- a red-is in a carboy still). My sg is 1.080 to start. I put a little heating pad next to the fermenter- unfortunately it has an auto-off. But it may help a bit at night. Now- I wait. Mary

    A tip to save time and money,,

    I dont think mine siphoned well either today- or I am just impatient . I ended up pumping out the wine with it. Any advice is appreciated.

    I just bought a better bottle- full glass one is just too heavy. It seemed a little smaller though... had 4 cups left over when I racked my wine into it (Of sediment- so maybe it is a good thing).

    OK- did the twist thing and could see stuff moving off the sides. When one mixes in the k-meta at that point how does it get mixed in without stirring up the sediment? Or just rack again then add it? still stir?

    Once again...I'm confused...

    Yes it is the 10 liter. Done mixing and adding the stuff. Hope I did it well enough since the mixer does not reach all the way down. (I had to take a flashlight and see if it was all swirrling around). Hope it was good enough. Tasted it prior to all the mixing... taste a little wine like but...

    It says 1.07- 1.085 depending on the wine type but does not specify further. Checking the SG again tonight and getting out my drill. Hope to not make a mess! Mary

    Is that the ending after the de-gassing and adding the additives after the secondary fermentation? Or before degassing? I have a cab s. Started at 1.07. Today it is .992. (on day 10)I do have a little trouble getting the hydrometer off the side of the wine thief. I might need to get a test jar...

    Is there any rule about what one has to put on a label? My kit did not come with any so that will be something for me to work on. abv type of wine year Do I need to put the kit maker? (vintners reserve)

    I am already seeing that... They soaked all night, but looks like nothing is going to nicely fall off for me and will have to be scraped. Well, at least I am off work a couple days and have lots of time before my wine is ready to bottle. Mary

    Last night while out at a local bar (usually a country bar but was a democrat party thing last night) we asked the bartender gal (who knows us from country dancing nights) to save bottles for me. I ended up with 11 bottles- all are form Guadagni in california, either pinot grigio or chardonnay...

    easy questions

    OK, Saturday (day 5) the SG was 1.000. at goal. So It is now in the carboy and I will check in 10 days. I do need to get the thermometer that goes on the bottle. And get my friends to save me bottles a little faster! Mary

    OK- I checked it. It is day 3... starting SG was 1.07. Looks like 1.28 today. (goal is 1.010 or less per the kit).Good numbers...? or bad.... ? I will do some more readfing about the process. mary
